Le Clos des Grillons Les Grillons Blanc is a natural white wine made by Le Clos des Grillons with the Garnacha Blanca, Clairette and Bourboulenc varieties in the Rhône (France).
Le Clos des Grillons is run by Nicolas Renaud, a history and geography teacher who left his profession to pursue his passion for wine. With help from the great Eric Pfifferling, the man who works wonders in Tavel, he has managed to produce elegant, lively and extremely vibrant natural wines, which have earned him recognition as one to watch in the southern Rhone Valley.
Le Clos des Grillons Les Grillons Blanc comes from a small plot of old vines in Rochefort-du-Gard. This plot is home to three varieties: Garnacha Blanca, Clairette and Bourboulenc. The vines are aged between 30 and 60 years old, planted in limestone, gravel and sand soils, and ecologically cultivated according to biodynamic principles.
In the winery, Le Clos des Grillons Les Grillons Blanc is vinified with minimal intervention. A clean and meticulous work that begins with direct pressing the grapes whole and fermenting the must with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine stays there on its lees for 6 months and is bottled unfiltered and without adding sulphites.
The Clos des Grillons wines have truly earned their reputation and this Le Clos des Grillons Les Grillons Blanc is a great example of this. An elegant, lively and character-filled white wine.
