Lan Gran Reserva is a Gran Reserva red wine made by the LAN winery with the Mazuela and Tempranillo varieties in the D.O.Ca. Rioja.
Named using an acronym of the three provinces that make up the D.O.Ca. Rioja (Logroño, Ávila and Navarra), LAN is located in Fuenmayor, in Rioja Alta. A winery that stands out for having one of the largest oak barrel aging cellars in the world. They have no fewer than 6,400 m2 of space where they house 50,000 barrels. A great project that was launched in 1972 and continues to strive for creating modern Rioja wines.
The Lan Gran Reserva grapes come from their own selected vineyards. Strains over 25 years old that are planted in clayey-calcareous soils and that, thanks to the shelter of the Cantabria mountain range, are protected from both potential frosts in winter and droughts in summer. The harvest is carried out manually and transported in small baskets.
When they reach the winery, the grapes are hand picked on a double selection table; first by cluster and then by berry. Lan Gran Reserva ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature below 28ºC and macerates for 3 weeks. It ages in American and French oak barrels for 24 months and is refined in the bottle for 36 months.
Lan Gran Reserva 2014 is a Gran Reserva red wine with volume, structure and a long life, specially designed for saving.
