Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product

Labros is a red wine from the Vinos de Madrid region produced by the Marañones winery. This wine is made using only Grenache grapes.

The grapes used to make this wine come from the La Dehasa plot, which is situated on the Viña de Lloras vineyard and spans not even one hectare. The vines used are over 70 years old and grow on granite soils. Organically cultivated, the harvest is carried out manually, selected first by the vineyard, then later by the winery.

After the grapes have been transported to the winery, without being destemmed they undergo cold pre-fermative maceration to obtain the best aromas. Following this, fermentation takes place in open vats using native yeasts, with various plunging on the caps taking place to mix the liquid and the solid particles.

After the various phases of the winemaking process have been carried out, Labros is aged for 12 months in used 500l capacity French oak barrels. This wine is the bottled without being clarified or filtered, which means that impurities can sometimes be found.

The Marañones winery is situated just 70 kilometres from the Capital of Madrid and has managed to make itself one of the best in the Vinos de Madrid region. Lead by García Alonso and Fernando Cornejo, the company produces both red and white wines.

For the Marañones Winery, “landscape wines” is not just an advertising mantra. They handcraft the flavors and nuances presented by the unusual environment of the Sierra de Gredos, where they have a mosaic of vineyards which work under biodynamic principles in the DO Vinos de Madrid. They’re committed to the varieties of the area: Garnacha, Morenillo and Albillo, which come from old vines which grow in impressive high-altitude vineyards. In short, wines made with honesty and dedication.

Although Madrid wines (Vinos de Madrid) are still relatively unknown among consumers, the region has enjoyed a prestige and historical past that dates back to the twelfth century. Current wines in the region however are far from the old wines of San Martín de Valdeiglesias, who in their golden years were perceived as some of the most prestigious wines in Spain. Today, the Vinos of Madrid face a highly competitive wine scene, but the effort local wineries regain this old prestige is evident in the quality of the wines being produced.
