

La Viña Escondida is a red wine from the D.O Méntrida produced by the Canopy winery. This wine is made using Grenache grapes.
The grapes used for La Viña Escondida grows on a vineyard that spans across ten hectares and is exposed to the four cardinal points, thus receiving different exposition to the rays of the sun and guaranteeing a perfect maturation. The vines are planted 70 years ago on silex-calcareous soils rich in granite, a slope that produces no more than one or two bunches per plant.
The local area is home to a continental climate, which is characterized by the oscillating temperatures ranging significantly between winter and summer, and even between day and night.
The harvest of the is carried out manually and the grapes are transported in the winery using small boxes to avoid the the grapes breaking and oxidising. Then at the wineries facilites, the grapes undergo cold maceration before fermentation.
Finally, La Viña Escondida is aged for 18 months in 2,000-litre French oak foudre. After being bottled, this wine is ready to be enjoyed. Only 2,500 bottles of La Viña Escondida are produced.
The Canopy winery, founded in 2003, aims of cultivating and recover old vineyards and vines. The winery currently has 19 hectares of vineyards, growing Syrah and Grenache grapes.
