La Peluda is a red wine from D.O Montsant produced by Celler Communica. This is a single variety wine made with Garnacha Peluda grapes, which lends the wine its name.
The vineyards are cultivated in a way respectful to the environment and are home to calcareous clay, granite and slate soils. The region is home to a dry Mediterranean climate. The mild characteristic temperatures in the area are added low humidity and little rainfall throughout the year. The grapes used to produce this wine come from vines that are between 80 and 90 years old, situated at altitudes of 370 meters.
The vinification process begins with the phases of maceration and fermentation, which last for around two or three weeks. La Peluda is then undergoes lees ageing for 10 months in stainless steel tanks. Only 1,200 bottles of this wine are produced per vintage, don’t let it escape!
Celler Comunica is a winery led by winemakers Pep Aguilar and Patri Murillo. The project, founded in 2002, is known for ageing their wines in stainless steel tanks. According to the winery, this allows for maximum expression of the terroir of Montsant in their wines.
