La Misión de Menade is a Verdejo variety white wine made by the Menade winery in the V.T. Castilla y León, Spain.

For the past 25 years, the Menade winery has been constantly searching for pre-phylloxera vines that the La Misión de Menade wine is made from. This wine is made from clusters that come from 18 plots located in different towns in Castilla y León and are cultivated in an environmentally friendly way.

The harvest is carried out manually and when the clusters reach the winery, they are pressed whole. The must ferments with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The resulting wine ages for about 10 months spread across 500-litre French oak barrels, in 5,000 and 10,000 litre tanks and in different sized jars that have partly been made using clay from the Menade estates, which is how things were done right at the beginning.

After aging, La Misión de Menade wine rests in the bottle for a minimum of two years before being sold.

Even though Bodegas Menade was only founded in 2005, its origins date back to winegrowers in 1820. It is now the sixth generation who are carrying the family winemaking legacy, adapting their processes to the modern day but holding onto a respect for the land, the authenticity of the varieties they grow and to their exceptional location.

The Menade winery has one thing certain: you have to give back to nature what man has taken from it. They cultivate the Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc varieties working in harmony with the environment, making use of the resources it provides. They encourage biodiversity and the insect population, they use no chemical treatments, instead relying on a green cover and a native system of mobile trees, planted on trailers, to improve the biodiversity in the vineyard. All of this work results in organic wines that are able to convey the full strength and personality of this region.
