Trusted Shops Reviews

La Garagista Harlots & Ruffians is an orange wine coupage of the La Crescent and Frontenac Gris varieties produced by the La Garagista winery in the Vermont region, United States.

An Orange Omelet for Harlots and Ruffians is the name of a dish created by a German chef for an Italian pope back in the 1400s. This chef made recipes for royalty and less noble groups. Owners of the winery, Deirdre Heekins and Caleb Barber were inspired by this dish that they love and usually cook in winter, and decided to name this orange wine La Garagista Harlots & Ruffians (harlots and ruffians) because they believe this wine is suitable, in their own words, “for ascetics and libertines alike, to be enjoyed without risk of moral corruption”.

The Garagista Harlots & Ruffians is made from grapes that grow in plots with soils made up of limestone and clays that are worked according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture and harvested manually. Traditional winemaking methods are used, with native yeasts and minimal intervention. The resulting wine is bottled without filtering, clarifying or adding sulphites.

Deirdre Heekins and Caleb Barber offer honest, alpine and very personal wines that aim to reflect the essence of the Vermont hills and valleys.
