Characteristics La Bota de Palo Cortado "Bota NO"

Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product

Team Navazos is a project by Jesus Barquin and Eduardo Ojeda, who are dedicated to retrieving and releasing old Jerez wines virtually forgotten for many years.

La Bota de Palo Cortado 47 "Bota NO" is a very old wine. A Palo Cortado about 80 years of age from an old vintage by Gaspar Florido, which came to market at a very exclusive price under the name "Ánsar Real".
After only releasing a small number of vintages, this wonderful wine is now in the hands of the Pedro Romero winery and has been recovered by Team Navazos. One of these vintages is La Bota de Palo Cortado 47 "Bota NO", another with greater "amontillado character" is the very old La Bota de Amontillado 49 "Bota AR.

Equipo Navazos is not a winery in itself, but a team of lovers and connoisseurs of Andalusian generosos. Their purpose is to incorporate a new perspective into the true essence of Andalusian wines, without giving up the authenticity and the magical limestone soils of Andalusia. Here, not only do they attain the raw material for the wonderful finos, manzanillas, amontillados, palos cortados and olorosos, but also for other fun and fresh wines.
Sherry and wines from Jerez are probably Spain’s biggest contribution to the world of wine. Unique and special, there is nothing else like them in the world. A great diversity of Sherry wine is produced in DO Jerez-Sherry-Manzanilla de Sanlúcar, everything from sweet wines to fortified wines. Sweet wines are divided between Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel, depending on the variety used during production. Concerning fortified wines, there is a large range including Finos, Amontillado, Manzanilla, Oloroso, Medium, Cream and Palo Cortado, classified depending on the result of the ageing process under the ´velo flor´. A unique trait of these wines is the ageing process using the Solera Method, a system using various barrels from different vintages. The system uses stacked barrels, where a portion of a barrel’s contents is extracted and mixed with the lower barrel, with the barrel then filled with the contents of the upper barrel. Thus, the new wine is gradually coming to be thanks to the age of the rest of the content of screeds.
