Julien Courtois Originel is a natural white wine coupage of the Romorantin and Menu Pineau varieties made by Julien Courtois under the Vin de France denomination, in the Loire Valley, France.

Julien Courtois Originel is made from grapes that come from vines planted in 1958 on flint and clay soils. The clusters are harvested by hand between the end of September and the beginning of October and when they reach the winery they ferment in old oak barrels with their native yeasts, a process that can last between 15 days and a month.

The resulting wine ages for 18 months in used barrels and under fine lees. There is no battonage and only one racking. Finally the wine is bottled without refining or filtering and does not contain added sulphites.

Julien Courtois and his partner Heidi Kuka, work their vineyards under the principles of biodynamic agriculture, which they learned from the best of teachers, Julien’s father, Claude Courtois, one of the best-known champions of natural wines in France. In addition, Heidi, who is from New Zealand and has Maori blood, is responsible for creating the beautiful, artistic labels that dress each of Julien’s wines. In short, they work respectfully and in harmony with nature and with great care for detail from beginning to end, which results in sincere and unique terroir wines.
