Julien Courtois Autochtone 2015 is a profiled white wine that offers complex aromas on the nose, including apple accompanied by an umami note of sake. It is difficult to describe the palate, where it comes across as both fruity and salty. A balanced, bright and delicious wine with a mineral note.

Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product

Julien Courtois Autochtone is a single-variety natural white wine made with the Romorantin variety by Julien Courtois under the Vin de France denomination, in the Loire Valley, France.

The grapes used to make the Julien Courtois Autochtone wine come from vines planted in predominantly silica soils on the surface with clays and flint underneath. The vines have an average age of 15 years old.

The grapes are harvested manually and when they reach the winery they undergo natural fermentation in old oak barrels. The resulting wine ages for 12 months in used barrels. The wine is only racked once, and is bottled unrefined and unfiltered.

Julien Courtois has an excellent teacher in his father Claude Courtois, a leading producer of natural wines, which he made on his family estate, Les Cailloux du Paradis. Julien carries the his father’s legacy of minimal intervention in the vineyard and winery and he works his 4.5 hectares of vines in line with the principles of biodynamic agriculture to make unique wines that are, most importantly, a true reflection of their environment and the grape varieties.

Julien Courtois’s girlfriend Heidi Kuka is from New Zealand and has Maori blood, and she is responsible for the striking and creative labels that reflect the personality of each of their wines. Detail and care from beginning to end, from the vineyard to the presentation, to promote these wines with their own and inimitable character and personality.
