Javier Sanz Verdejo is a white wine from Rueda produced by the Javier Sanz Rueda winery. This winery is located in La Seca (Valladolid).

Javier Sanz Verdejo is 100% made from Verdejo. The grapes come from old vines over 40 years old planted on clay and boulderous soils.

The harvest is done mechanically with integrated destemming overnight.

For processing a traditional fermentation takes place at 15°C in stainless steel. After the vinification the wine is aged on its lees for months before being bottled.

Javier Sanz is the example of tradition in viticulture. An example of meticulous work on the land, and enhancement of the personality of a territory with the recovery of almost extinct and pre-phylloxera varieties. An example of the production of red wines in a sea of whites, of creating wines capable of expressing the land where they come from. And also an example of knowing how to manage a unique winery that, in a few years, has become one of the most emblematic ones of our country.
Pictures and situation Javier Sanz
When we talking about the Rueda wines, we are often referring to their white wines. The white wines produced in this region are often made with the Verdejo variety, the main variety of Rueda, planted along the Douro River and its tributaries. Rueda white wines often offer lots of floral notes, scrubland low, delicate aromas and a great acidity given by strong temperature differences between day and night. Apart from white wine, Rueda also produces red wine, often made with the Tempranillo variety.
