Jacques Sélosse V.O. Grand Cru Extra Brut is a biodynamic sparkling wine made with the Chardonnay variety by Jacques Sélosse in the AOC Champagne, within the French region of Champagne.
Although the Jacques Sélosse winery was established in 1949, it was not until the founder’s son Anselme took over in 1974 that it began to be recognised. His studied oenology in Beaune and his experience in Burgundy has made him the most original vigneron in Champagne. With almost all Grand Cru vineyards, he is a firm believer in terroir and long aging.
Jacques Sélosse V.O. Grand Cru Extra Brut comes from Grand Crus located in Avize, Cramant, Oger and Le-Mesnil-sur-Oger. Influenced by what he learned from Coche-Dury, Comtes Lafon and Domaine Leflaive, Anselme cultivates his vines ecologically and uses biodynamic treatments. The yields are much lower than usual for the Champagne area and the harvest is carried out manually depending on the colour of the grapes and the aromas from the grape skin.
Jacques Sélosse V.O. Grand Cru Extra Brut is made up of wines from three different vintages. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle where it ages on its lees for a minimum of 48 months before disgorging.
Jacques Sélosse V.O. Grand Cru Extra Brut is revolutionary, rebellious and fresh. A very vinous sparkling wine that is now known all around the world and is reminiscent of an aged Burgundy Chardonnay. Without doubt an excellent terroir champagne.
