Il Bianco di Marilina Riserva 2017 is a creamy white wine with aromas of ripe white fruit accompanied by a background of oak. The palate is baroque, elegant and opulent. A wine rich in nuances with noticeable acidity and a flavoursome and unctuous mid-palate.
A committed vegetarian, Marilina Paternò makes very intentional choices when it comes to making her wines. That’s why, when she set up her winery in 2001 with her sister Federica, she decided to revive her products to convey this life philosophy and to eliminate all animal substances from the vineyard and the winery. She makes organic and vegan wines within the IGT Terre Siciliane (Italy) wine region that are given the names of family members and made with the intention of conveying the love she has for her land and her products to the consumer.
The Il Bianco di Marilina Riserva wine carries the same name as its producer and is a white wine made from the Grecanico variety. These vines are planted on white-limestone soils and organically cultivated. Once the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are harvested by hand in 10 kg boxes and taken to the winery to begin vinification in concrete tanks, where they remain for 12 months on their own lees. It then spends a further 12 months in oak, and finally 6 months in the bottle.
This is how, enriched with the noble substances of wood, Il Bianco di Marilina Riserva is born, a limited and numbered production in which the Paternò sisters showcase the strength of a territory with limestone soils, dazzling sun and strong winds.
