Hacienda Monasterio Reserva is a red wine from D.O. Ribera del Duero produced by Bodegas Hacienda Monasterio, one of the great wineries that we will encounter in the Ribera del Duero.
Peter Sisseck is the maker of the some of the most well know Spanish wines in Spain like Pingus, and Carlos de la Fuente, has the grapes extracted with all their potential and continues with great wines that reflect and express the quality of the land where they are created.
Bodegas Hacienda Monasterio follows an organic farming process which is completely respectful of the environment. They do not use any type of pesticide or herbicide. For fertilizers, they use the composted remains of the vineyard together with sheep excrement.
Hacienda Monasterio Reserva is a coupage of Tinto fino (80%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%). The grapes are grown on a south facing estate and with mainly limestone soils which causes the wine to be fine and elegant.
The harvest is done by hand and the grapes are transported to the winery in small plastic creates which prevents breakages before they arrive at the winery so that they are all still intact. After destemming, the grapes undergo a meticulous selection process.
The fermentation is only performed with natural yeast. The malolactic fermentation takes places in French Allier oak barrels, applying a racking every 3 months, a process that helps separate the grapes from their lees.
Hacienda Monasterio Reserva undergoes an aging for 18 months in French Allier oak barrels before resting in the bottle for at least 12 months before they are released onto the market.
A complex and very expressive red wine from Ribera del Duero and the Tinto Fino variety.
