Guímaro Camiño Real is a red wine produced by Adega Guímaro in Sober, in the hear of D.O. Ribera Sacra.

Adega Guímaro was built at the beginning of the century. Here, wines are produced in a traditional way. In 1991, a large refurbishment was carried out. It improved its conditions and the winery is as of today one of the standards of the D.O. Ribeira Sacra.

Adega Guímaro practices an organic agriculture, respectful with its environment, always advocating for the local varieties.

Guímaro Camiño Real is a wine made mainly with Mencía, and 20% of other varieties like Red Grenache, Caíño Tinto, Mouratón and Sousón. These grapes come from several vineyards planted mostly on slate soils.

Once the grapes are harvested, they ferment with the stems in deposits of different materials with native yeasts. The subsequent ageing is in wooden deposits of different sizes for around 7 months. Once the wine is assembled in stainless steel deposits, it is bottled just before it is launched on the market.

Guímaro Camiño Real is a juicy, elegant and fresh wine. On the nose, the aromas of fresh red fruit stand out, with floral notes on a mineral background. In the mouth, it shows all its character, easy to drink and fresh. A wine with an amazing value for money.

Among the regions that make up the landscape of Galician wines, Ribeira Sacra is one of the most representative scenarios of what is known as heroic viticulture. To the heroic character of Guímaro, we must add the familiar and traditional dedication that the human team has with nature, to achieve wines that are honest with the terroir where they are born. Adegas Guímaro is among the 100 Best Wineries of the World 2015, according to the ranking made each year by Wine & Spirits magazine for the Top 100 Tasting Event awards. Its red wines Finca Pombeiras and Finca Capeliños, both with 96 points, are also at the top of the Galician ranking in the Robert Parker newsletter of 2015.

Ribeira Sacra is one of those magical places that you just have to visit to truly experience it. The vertiginous terraces rise steep on the banks of the river Sil, making the terrain difficult to work on that it requires complete manual work and labor on the vineyards. The agriculture carried out here is aptly referred to as ‘heroic agriculture’, due to the hard work carried out cultivating the land. Both red and white wines are produced in the Ribeira Sacra. The red wines are mostly made with the Mencía variety, defined by their expressive and elegant character with a good acidity. The Ribeira Sacra white wines are principally made with the Godello and Albariño varieties. They are wines with a good volume in the mouth, aromatic and fruity. The Ribeira Sacra wines are often come in very limited productions, are of high quality and with notable personalities.
