Characteristics Gran Caus Rosado
Gran Caus Rosado is a rosé wine from the D.O Penedès produced by Can Ràfols dels Caus. This is a monovarietal of Merlot.
The grape for Gran Caus Rosado originates from three estates: Pals de fusta, Fondo and Vinya Negra. The soil is predominantly calcareous-clay.
The winery has adopted an organic approach to their agriculture, this mean no pesticides or herbicides were used.
The harvest is completed with the maximum care and by hand.
The winemaking process is performed using only the best selected grapes. The pellicular maceration lasts for 16 hours.
Subsequently, the bleeding of the free run juices and whereby there is a spontaneous 35 days of fermentation at 15ºC.
Can Ràfols dels Caus is located in Garaf, very close to Avinyonet del Penedès. The history of the estate dates back to the 16th century and it was Carlos Esteva who started in the 80's to plant 30 hectares of vineyards

This powerful and full bodied rosé wine has a very tasty, fruity, fresh and very nice mid palate. Its marked but not unpleasant acidity freshens the wine. Its notes of juicy fruit are very expressive. It has a full-bodied and unctuous palate and a good, long finish that leaves fresh fruity sensations.

Can Ràfols dels Caus is Carlos Esteva, one of the few winemakers who live on the farm and strive to achieve their objectives, respecting the characteristics of the landscape and the architecture of the place in a sustainable framework. Harvest after harvest, in Can Ràfols dels Caus they experiment with different wines and varieties with the aim of making wines with a good ageing capacity, but fine, natural, elegant and with personality, which simultaneously show the fruit, the soil and the personality of the producer.
