Gargalo Treixadura Albariño is a white wine produced by Bodegas Gargalo in Verín, D.O.Monterrei.

Bodegas Gargalo is the personal project of the fashion designer Roberto Verino. His maternal grandparents, who cultivated vines in the area of Ribeira Sacra, instilled in him the curiosity for the noble art of winemaking.

It is on the hillside of Monterrey where Roberto Verino found a very special terroir, ideal for his project. An 8-hectare vineyard of an average of 25-30 years old. Embraced by an Atlantic climate with continental influences, with relatively scarce rainfall with respect to its surroundings, and a higher average annual temperature.

Bodegas Gargalo bases its work philosophy on the production of high-quality wines, with the character of the terroir, with the aim of becoming a well-known reference in the Galician wine industry. Their objective is to become the leaders in top-range wines, preserving the nature and respecting the environment.

Gargalo Treixadura Albariño is a wine made from Treixadura and Albariño from their own vineyards located in the Monterrei valley, planted on granite and slate soils.

Harvesting is carried out manually, selecting the grapes in winery. They ferment in stainless steel deposits at a controlled temperature, 18ºC, for 10 days. Once the alcoholic fermentation has finished, it remains for around 3 months in the same deposits. It is bottled after clarifying and filtering.

Gargalo Treixadura Albariño is a fluid, intense and fresh wine. It reflects the character of the Treixadura in combination with the Albariño of the area. It perfectly combines with all kinds of fish and seafood.

The Monterrei Valley is often only considered for the cultivation of cereals, fruit trees and other horticultural products, but the Valley is today one of the most dynamic regions in terms of wine production. The transformation and improvement of viticulture and the installation of wineries such as Terra de Gargalo (owned by Roberto Verino), Pazos del Rey, Quinta do Muradella, Lobazán and Valdevellos, among others, have contributed to increased production of quality wines within designation of origin, which are becoming ever more present in the main Spanish markets.
