Galena 2010 is a red wine from the Priorat prepared by the Domini de la Cartoixa winery.
The winery is located in the town of El Molar (Tarragona) and its name refers to the Carthusian monks of Scaladei that, since the twelfth century, cultivated the vineyards.
Galena 2010 is a blend of Grenache (35%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%), Carignan (15%) and Merlot (25%). The grapes come from vineyards with fourteen plots where ecological agriculture is applied.
The development of Galena starts with careful harvest and manual selection of grapes. Once in the winery, fermentation and maceration of each variety occurs separately in stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, a soft pressing of the skins is followed by malolactic fermentation.
After the vinification process, the blend of different varieties is performed before entering the barrels, where the wine remains for 12 months. Finally Galena spends 24 months aging in the bottle before marketing.
