Freixenet Trepat

The cuvée de prestige, in the world of Champagne, is the name that represents the maximum expression of each Maison. This is something that Freixenet, one of the major winemakers that needs very little introduction because of how many cavas it sells around the world, has managed to encapsulate in its most exclusive sparkling wine range. With an annual production of 42,000 bottles, its Cuvée de Prestige collection represents one thousandth of the winery’s total production. These are exceptional cavas, the result of a careful coupage of the winery’s best plots.

Within this line of exclusive cavas is Freixenet Trepat, a sparkling rosé made from the Trepatvariety. A variety native to the Conca de Barberà (Tarragona) with a total production of about 1,000 ha throughout Catalonia. In the winery, the grapes are destemmed and gently pressed to take advantage of just the free-run juice, with a light maceration to extract its characteristic pale pink colour. After allowing the particles in the must to precipitate for 24 hours, fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature and using yeasts previously selected for this collection. Once the base wine is ready, a second fermentation begins in the bottle following the traditional method with aging in the cellar. Finally, disgorgement takes place and a dosage of 9 grams of sugar per litre is added to obtain a top quality brut.

Pink, sweet and elegant, Freixenet Trepat is presented as Freixenet’s cuvée de prestige rosé. A minimum production cava for a company whose 150 years of history are an international benchmark for cava.
