Freixenet Reserva Real Brut is a cava produced by Freixenet in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, D.O. Cava.
Freixenet is one of the most popular cava brands. Its history goes back to 1861, when the Sala family started to produce still wines. However, it was not until 1911, when the heiress of Casa Sala married the youngest of the Ferrer de la Freixeda family, that they started to make sparkling wines using the traditional method, like the one used for Champagne. In 1914, the first bottle of sparkling wine is launched on the market, under the brand Freixenet.
Currently, Freixenet is a winemaking group with more than 20 brands around Spain, France, United States, Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Australia. They have a production of more than 114 million bottles per year, and they export to more than 150 countries.

The grapes are manually harvested and placed in 25-kg boxes. Once they arrive at the winery, the go through a pneumatic press, where they obtain the flor must without pressurising. This must is left to stand for 24 hours. Once it is cleaned, it is transferred to stainless steel deposits at a controlled temperature, 14-16ºC, each variety at a time. Here it will go through the first fermentation for 10-12 days. After a series of rackings, the carry out the coupage and the subsequent bottling, where it will go through the second fermentation. After a minimum ageing of 30 months, it is disgorged and liqueur d'expédition is added to it, with 4 gr of sugar per litre, and aged for 8 months in chestnut wood barrels.
