Frédéric Cossard Puligny-Montrachet Voitte is an organic and natural, barrel-aged white wine made by Fréderic Cossard in the AOC Puligny-Montrachet/Côte-d'Or (Burgundy) with the Chardonnay variety.
Frédéric Cossard starts from the philosophy of seeking the most faithful expression of the terroir. To do this, he cultivates the vines using biological methods and vinifies with minimal intervention. He started selling wines in 2006 and these are not limited to just the best terroirs in Burgundy. He also creates cuvées from grapes bought from Jura and Languedoc.
Frédéric Cossard Puligny-Montrachet Voitte comes from vines aged over 40 years old and planted in limestone and clay soils. He uses organic farming, working in the most natural way possible and under biodynamic principles. Instead of using chemicals, he chooses homeopathic treatments with essential oils, copper and sulphur in minimal doses. A horse does the ploughing and the harvest is completely manual when the grapes are fully ripe.
Oenological products are not used in the winery. The Frédéric Cossard Puligny-Montrachet Voitte grapes are pressed and the resulting must is fermented with native yeasts for 4 months. It is then aged for 12 months in old barrels and left for 4 months in stainless steel. Finally, the wine is filtered by gravity before bottling.
Frédéric Cossard Puligny-Montrachet Voitte is a 100% mineral 1er cru made in the exceptional terroirs of Puligny-Montrachet and without any added sulphites.
