VT Castilla (Castilla La Mancha)
Finca Constancia is a red wine from V.T. Castilla made by Finca Constancia, a winery that was founded by Gonzalez Byass in 2006 and has been passed down five generations.
The winery is located in the municipality of Otero (Toledo).
The climate on the estate is extreme Mediterranean-continental, the winters are very cold and summers are very hot. Temperatures vary widely on a daily basis, especially during the ripening period.
As for rainfall, this is average (500 litres per year) but during the ripening period it is scarce, which protects the grapes from fungal diseases and, therefore, the grapes are healthier and have better quality.
This wine is a coupage of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Graciano from vineyards located in the upper and lower valleys of the winery.
The land where the vineyards are located is undulating, so the soil types vary widely in different plots.
Following a manual harvest in boxes of 20 kilos, the bunches are chosen on a selection table. The fermentation takes place in tanks of 13,500 litres with temperature control.
Finally, Finca Constancia rests French and American oak barrels for 13 months.
