Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product

Home was calling for Esmeralda García, a young, new generation winegrower who, having worked in different wineries, returned to her home town of Santiuste de San Juan Bautista (Segovia) to set up her own project. This is a place where time stands still and where pre-phylloxera vines are the starting point for honest, natural wines that are free from stereotypes.

Esmeralda García Michiko is an example of this work. This wine is made from 130-190 year old Verdejo vines, planted in deep sandy-loam limestone soils at 800-850 m above sea level. They are cultivated using respectful agriculture without the use of chemical products and the grapes are harvested by hand at the optimum point of ripeness. In the winery, the grapes are directly pressed and the resulting must ferments with native yeasts in 500 litre earthenware jars without racking. The wine then spends 9-10 months under a yeast cap in a 500-litre sherry cask. Finally, it is bottled without clarifying or filtering.

Esmeralda García Michiko is a very limited production resulting from the combination of pre-phylloxera vines and a yeast cap. A careful, respectful and explosive production that will really surprise you.

Type of grape: Verdejo

Tipo de Uva: 100% Verdejo
Esmeralda García returned to her family’s village to make natural wines using the Verdejo variety planted on sandy soils, which has preserved some pre-phylloxera vineyards that are between 140 and 200 years old! Poor soils, pre-phylloxera vines, a philosophy of minimal intervention... The results are exceptional, intimate and unhindered Verdejos. True Verdejos.
