Encomienda de la Vega is a red wine from D.O. Toro, the 'small' one of Bodegas Divina Proporción.
In 2009 they began to construct the winery and in 2012 they planted the vines around the building. The first wine arrived in 2011.
This wine is a single variety Tinta de Toro grown in 15 hectares of their own vineyards with vines of a minimum age of 30 years old, located around the winery, over 600-900 metres above sea level.
The climate in this area is extreme as the winters are already very cold (minimum of -10 degrees) and summers are very warm (maximum of 40 degrees)
The harvest is done by hand and in small crates in order to ensure they arrive at the winery intact. The selection of the grape is the same in the vineyards as in the winery, the quality is fundamental.
After the maceration of the grapes in stainless steel deposits, they undergo a fermentation with local yeast for 10 days.
Finally, Encomienda de la Vega rest in French and American oak barrels for 5 months in order to gain longevity without losing freshness and joy.

Divina Proporción is a relatively new winery, small and familiar, located in D.O. Toro, where they have the native variety Tinta de Toro as their flagship. Its wines, modern and honest, are conceived under the philosophy of boosting the identity of the terroir, as well as the personality and quality of the local varieties of the area. They offer a good image and an excellent quality for price. There are a clear bet in a growing area and with great oenological interest.
Pictures and situation Divina Proporción
In Toro, the red wines are mainly made with the Tinta de Toro grape variety, planted on soils of fluvial origin by the influence of the Duero River and its tributaries, grown on poor, sandy and dry soils the further away you move from the river. Toro offers powerful wines, well bodied, flavourful, complex, and tannic. Although on a smaller scale, the region also produces white wines using the Verdejo and Malvasía varieties. Since the ´80’s, Toro has experienced a revival in its wines, thanks to a new generation of highly skilled winemakers and the installation of many big names in the region, such as Pintia, a winery belonging to the Vega Sicília group, or Teso la Monja, part of Sierra Cantabria.
