Founded in 1970, El Coto de Rioja is the winery with the most hectares of its own vineyards in La Rioja. A leading Spanish brand that is present in more than 50 countries around the world and that perfectly shows the classic character of DOCa Rioja at very affordable prices.
Coto Verdejo comes from Finca Carbonera, a vineyard located at an altitude of 780 meters above sea level and which sits on a rocky glacis. The vines are cultivated using traditional agriculture and the harvest is carried out at the optimum point of ripeness.
In the winery, the grapes of El Coto Verdejo are selected, destemmed and gently pressed. The must obtained ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16 ºC. Finally, the lees are periodically suspended before bottling.
El Coto Verdejo is the first single-varietal Verdejo made in La Rioja. A fruity white wine that, although original in the region, has it all to become a classic.
Coto Verdejo 2020 is an aromatic white wine with aromas of tropical fruit, floral notes and hints of aniseed. On the palate it’s unctuous, fresh and elegant. A wine with good acidity and a persistent finish.
Since its beginnings in 1970, the winery El Coto de Rioja has followed a policy of constant reinvestment that has not only meant doubling the size of its facilities, but also significantly increasing the extension of its own vineyard and the number of barrels for the ageing of its wines. In addition, the use of state-of-the-art technology has managed to harmonise the dimension, production volume and quality of the products with the aim of producing more and also achieving continuous improvements in their quality levels.
