El Coto Rosado is a rose wine from the Rioja, produced by the El Coto de Rioja winery. This winery, founded in 1970, is located in the town of Oyon, in the province of Alava.
El Coto Rosado is made from Tempranillo (50%) and Grenache (50%). The Grenache grapes come from the farm Los Almendros, in Ausejo, and Tempranillo grapes come from the Rioja Alavesa.
For processing, a bleeding of the must flower and a film pressing and maceration is done. Then a fermentation is carried out with selected yeasts at very low temperatures in order to favour the powerful aroma of the wine.
Since its beginnings in 1970, the winery El Coto de Rioja has followed a policy of constant reinvestment that has not only meant doubling the size of its facilities, but also significantly increasing the extension of its own vineyard and the number of barrels for the ageing of its wines. In addition, the use of state-of-the-art technology has managed to harmonise the dimension, production volume and quality of the products with the aim of producing more and also achieving continuous improvements in their quality levels.
