El Castro de Valtuille Godello is an aged white wine from the D.O Bierzo produced by the Castro Ventosa winery. This is a single variety wine made with the Godello grape.

Located in the town of Valtuille de Abajo, in the region of Biezo, the grapes used for El Castro de Valtuille Godello come from the 60 hectares of vineyards owned by the winery. The vineyards are split into 300 different plots, all home to differing soils and orientations. The Godello grape works as well in Bierzo as it does in Galicia.

El Castro de Valtuille Godello is vinified and produced following traditional techniques, drawing on the years of experience that the winery has gained over the years. We must remember that the cultivation of grapes in Valtuille dates all the way back to 1752. The teachings of the time are certainly a great ally of the oldest wineries.

El Castro de Valtuille Godello is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. This white wine is a recent addition to a winery that specialized in the production of reds. However, the results have not been disappointing, and this wine has been very well received by critics.

Talk of Castro Ventosa, is speaking of a place but mostly about being rooted to earth are these people with some style, sober and discreet, outside shocks, trends and fleeting fashions, and only subject to cyclical and monotonous rhythm the passing of the seasons and the vineyard. Castro Ventosa in life gravitates around the earth, to the vineyard, the grape and fruit asu wine, which is only seen as the natural consequence of success at all stages but particularly in the strain itself.

Bierzo wine is on the rise. It is a region defined by its small scale work, with plots scattered around, very old vines, artisan work of the small scale wineries, and the character of their principal variety, the Mencía grape, which produces fresh, fruity and delicious wines. Although the region is well known mostly for its red wines, it also produces white and rosé wines. If the red wines here are defined by the Mencía variety, then the white wines here are defined by the Godello. Godello grape has great aromatic potential, as well as an excellent balance between alcohol and acidity.  Despite the great potential of El Bierzo, its rise in the wine world would not have been possible without two people: Raúl Pérez and Ricardo Pérez. Two great winemakers who in little time have been able to produce critically acclaimed wines from the Bierzo region.
