Characteristics E. Guigal Hermitage
E. Guigal Hermitage Blanc is a white wine made mainly with Marsanne and with a little Roussanne. It belongs to the AOC Hermitage and is produced by Domaine E. Guigal.
Domaine E. Guigal is a winery in the Rhone founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal. It is currently run by the second and third generation of the family. They produce wines in the northern denominations of Rhone Valley such as Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Saint-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage and in the south, Châteaunef-du-Pape, Gigondas, Tavel and Côtes-du-Rhône. They have also been making their own barrels since 2003.
The vineyards for M. Guigal Hermitage Blanc are between 30 and 90 years old. The soils of the plots are limestone, sand and gravel and their average yield is about 40 hectolitres per hectare; a low yield that guarantees a balanced and concentrated grape production.
E. Guigal Hermitage Blanc ferments at a controlled temperature of around 16-18 ºC, a temperature that helps to extract and preserve the fresh and fruity aromas of the grape. Once the wine is made it undergoes a long ageing in second wine barrels.
E. Guigal Hermitage Blanc is an elegant, complex and fresh wine with a medium-full body.

E. Guigal Hermitage 2012 is a wine with spicy aromas, red berries, violets and delicate touches of oak. On the palate it is powerful and tannic, with touches of blackcurrant and vanilla. Its finish is lingering and brings with it spicy and licorice touches.
