E. Guigal Crôzes Hermitage Rouge is a monovarietal Syrah red wine from the AOC Crozes-Hermitage produced by Domaine E. Guigal.
Domaine E. Guigal is a prestigious family winery in the Rhone Valley founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal. It produces wine in various denominations in the north and south of the area and has been awarded 100 Parker points for some of its wines. The winery has 140 hectares of vineyards, and even its own cooperage since 2003.
The vineyards for E. Guigal Crôzes Hermitage Rouge have an average age of 35 years and are planted on soils composed of clay loams and sandy gravels. The continental climate predominates in the area. The plots are harvested manually and have an average yield of 40 hectolitres per hectare.
E. Guigal Crôzes Hermitage Rouge is vinified in a traditional way and fermented in vats with temperature control. The fermentation and maceration with the skins is prolonged for about 4 weeks. Once fermented, the wine is aged for 18 to 24 months in new French oak barrels.
E. Guigal Crôzes Hermitage Rouge 2018 is a red wine from the north of the Rhone with lots of fruit, lilac flowers and lovely spices with freshness and balance on the palate.
