Domaine E. Guigal is one of the most famous wineries in the RhoneValley. It was founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal. It is currently run by Philippe Guigal, third generation of the family and Domaine’s oenologist. It cultivates vineyards in several sub-denominations of the Rhone Valley, both northern (Saint-Joseph, Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie, Crozes-Hermitage) and southern (Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Tavel, Côtes-du-Rhône). It has also produced its own barrels since 2003.
The vineyards for M. Guigal Crôzes Hermitage Blanc have an average age of 25 years. The soils of the various plots are silty, with sands and gravels. The average yield per hectare is 37 hectoliters. It is fermented at a controlled temperature of around 18 ºC and part of the final wine is aged on lees for 12 months in French oak barrels.
