Dominó Vide is a natural, organic and vegan, barrel-aged red wine made by Dominó in the Alentejo region with the Trincadeira, Tinta Francesa, Fernao pires and Tinta de Olho Branco varieties.
Dominó is run by Vitor Claro alongside Rita Ferreira. It all started when Vitor, a chef, started working in a restaurant run by the prestigious Dirk Niepoort. This was his introduction to the exciting world of wine. He was so keen to pursue winemaking that he left the restaurant business and decided to focus entirely on this.
Seeing that the Alentejo grapes were not performing as well as they could, Vitor began working in Portalegre with old vines planted in shale soil at an altitude of 750m and in a forest clearing. This is how Dominó Vide came into being, a 100% organic wine where the grapes have been grown without any chemical products.
In the winery, they seek the maximum expression of the grape to produce Dominó Vide. Firstly, the grapes ferment spontaneously with native yeasts and then the wine ages in used oak barrels for 12 months. Finally, the wine is bottled without adding sulphites.
Dominó Vide is a light, vibrant and fresh wine that is something a little bit different to the typical Alentejo wines. A modern red that reflects all the fruitiness of the grapes with amazing elegance.
