Domaine Saint-Cyr Chénas Les Blémonts 2014 is a smooth and aromatic red wine with floral notes on the nose accompanied by spicy and mineral nuances and a touch of vanilla. On the palate it is light, with silky tannins and reaffirmed minerality. A Gamay red wine that is heavily influenced by the granite soil it comes from.

Domaine Saint-Cyr Chénas Les Blémonts is a single-variety natural Gamay red wine made by Domaine Saint-Cyr in the A.O.C. Fixin in Burgundy, France.

The grapes used to make the Domaine Saint-Cyr Chénas Les Blémonts wine come from vines growing in a granite quarry with great exposure to the sun. The vines are around 55 years old and are cultivated according to the principles of organic agriculture.

The grapes are manually selected and when they reach the winery, 50% of the harvest undergoes carbonic maceration and the other half is 50% destemmed. The must ferments with its native yeasts and the resulting wine undergoes malolactic fermentation. 70% of the wine ages in barrels that have been used at least six times for 18 months and it is then bottled without added sulphites.

The history of the Domaine Saint-Cyr dates back to 1963 when Jacqueline and Michel Saint-Cyr moved to Bellevue, south of Beaujolais, and worked hard for years to recover the vineyard and build a winery suitable for what they wanted to achieve.

Raphaël Saint-Cyr, fourth generation of the family, has been in charge of Domaine Saint-Cyr since 2008 and is the driving force behind the change from conventional agriculture to sustainable agriculture. They have gone from making wines from 13 hectares to making wines from 27 hectares of certified organic vineyards, making them the largest organic Domaine in Beaujolais.
