Domaine Rouchier Saint-Joseph Luc is a natural, organic, vegan red wine made by Domaine Rouchier with the Syrah variety in the French appellation of AOC Saint-Joseph, in the Rhone.
Although Christian Rouchier doesn’t come from a winemaking family, he’s worked all his life on his small estate in Ardèche as a mixed crop farmer and livestock farmer. In 2007 he bought his first vineyard and produced organic and natural wines for his own consumption. Over time he increased his knowledge and production and in 2013 he set up his own winery, Domaine Rouchier, with wines which are the direct result of the work carried out in the vineyard.
Domaine Rouchier Saint-Joseph Luc comes from a small vineyard of less than one hectare in the AOC Saint Joseph appellation. Vines planted in 1970 on granitic soils and with an impressive slope. The vineyards have been certified organic since 2013 and all the work is done by hand and by animal traction.
The fermentation of Domaine Rouchier Saint-Joseph Luc takes place in whole bunches with native yeasts and without oenological additives for two weeks. The wine is then aged in used 600-liter oak barrels (over 5 years old) for 18 months. Finally, it’s bottled without clarifying, filtering or adding sulphites.
In love with the vineyard and oblivious to commercial wine trends, Cristian presents Domaine Rouchier Saint-Joseph Luc. A deep and beautiful Syrah from the Northern Rhône.
