Domaine de l'Horizon Mar i Muntanya is an ecological and biodynamic, barrel-aged red wine made by Domaine de l'Horizon with the Syrah and Garnacha Tinta varieties in the French denomination VDP des Côtes Catalanes, in Languedoc-Roussillon.
After having worked in Germany, Italy and Saint Emilion, German-born winemaker Thomas Teibert set up Domaine de l'Horizon, in 2006 as his own project in Calce, on the Catalan coast. With a total of 15 hectares of vineyards lying between the Pyrenees mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, this is now a leading winery in Roussillon, producing pure, fresh and mineral wines.
Domaine de l'Horizon Mar i Muntanya comes from vineyards in the Agly valley. These vines are between 15 and 50 years old and are planted on limestone, shale and marl soils. They are cultivated using organic agriculture without the use of herbicides or pesticides, and biodynamic treatments are applied following the lunar calendar. The yields are very limited (15hl / ha) and the harvest is carried out manually in small boxes.
In the winery, the whole bunches used to make Domaine de l'Horizon Mar i Muntanya undergo a semi-carbonic maceration for 5 days. Then the wine spends 8 months in stainless steel tanks, concrete and vats.
The Domaine de l'Horizon Mar i Muntanya wine showcases the great geological richness of the terroir. A young, fresh and easy to drink red with great minerality.
