Domaine Bobinet Amatéüs Bobi is a barrel-aged red wine made by Domaine Bobinet with the Cabernet Franc red variety in the AOC Saumur-Champigny (Loire).
Sebastien Bobinet started this project in 2002 when he began cultivating his grandparents’ vineyards. This is a growing winery, with partner and sommelier Emeline Calvez joining the team in 2011. Together they make smooth, pure and healthy wines without any wine additives.
Domaine Bobinet Amatéüs Bobi mostly comes from a plot with vines aged over 70 years old planted on clay-calcareous soil. Over time it has been enriched as other very high quality plots have been acquired. The team use organic farming, biodynamic principles and natural treatments. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
In the winery, the Domaine Bobinet Amatéüs Bobi grapes are firstly destemmed and macerated for about 4 weeks with regular pump overs for a smooth extraction. It then ferments spontaneously with native yeasts and finally the wine ages in French oak barrels for 12 months.
Domaine Bobinet Amatéüs Bobi is this winery’s first wine made through minimal intervention and is characterised by its balance and minerality.
