Cyan Roble is a red wine with D.O. Toro, produced by the winery Bodega Cyan located 12 km from the municipality of Toro.

Bodega Cyan is situated on the road that goes from Toro to Venialbo. They have more than 53 hectares of their own vineyards, some plots planted with vines that are over 80 years old, on soils that are poor in organic matter. The Tinta de Toro is the only variety they work with at the moment.

Founded in 1999, Bodega Cyan belongs to Grupo Matarromera, a group of winemaking companies that emerged in 1988, when Carlos Moro, who had a long family winemaking tradition, decided to create his own winery, Matarromera.

Currently, the group is formed by wineries from 5 different denominations of origin, Ribera del Duero, Rueda, Rioja, Toro and Castilla León. This has placed it among the most important winery groups of Spain.

Cyan Roble is a wine made from Tinta de Toro from the farm Pago de Valdefinjas. 19 hectares of vineyards located at 600 metres of altitude, on poor soils, sandy with clay in the deeper layers, with an age ranging between 30 and 60 years.

Once the harvest is carried out, it goes through alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel deposits for 10-14 days at a controlled temperature of 26ºC. It is aged for 6 months in French and American oak barrels. Before it is launched on the market, it is left to stand in the bottle for a minimum of 36 months.

Only 12 km from the Spanish village Toro, in the province of Zamora, the landscape takes the characteristic rhythm of the flutter shaped, swiftly slopes and soft hills. The winery is located in the road between Toro and Venialbo, a little far away of the village of Valdefinjas. The winery is made up of three buildings, one of them half buried, where the barrels are resting and the other ones rounding a hill where it is possible to have a marvellous sight of the area and its vineyards.
In Toro, the red wines are mainly made with the Tinta de Toro grape variety, planted on soils of fluvial origin by the influence of the Duero River and its tributaries, grown on poor, sandy and dry soils the further away you move from the river. Toro offers powerful wines, well bodied, flavourful, complex, and tannic. Although on a smaller scale, the region also produces white wines using the Verdejo and Malvasía varieties. Since the ´80’s, Toro has experienced a revival in its wines, thanks to a new generation of highly skilled winemakers and the installation of many big names in the region, such as Pintia, a winery belonging to the Vega Sicília group, or Teso la Monja, part of Sierra Cantabria.
