Cume do Avia Brancellao Dos Canotos is an organic red wine made by Cume do Avia with the Brancellao variety in the D.O. Ribeiro (Galicia).
Cume do Avia is run by four cousins who, after many years of planning, left their jobs to set up their own winery in their grandparents’ hometown of Eiras do Mouros. They have a total of 9 hectares of recovered vineyards planted with up to 14 different native varieties, which are vinified following ancient Galician methods.
Cume do Avia Brancellao Dos Canotos comes from vineyards lying 290 to 350 metres above sea level. These are old vines rooted in granitic soil and cultivated organically with certification. No chemicals are used and the grapes are harvested by hand in small boxes.
In the winery, the Cume do Avia Brancellao Dos Canotos grapes ferment spontaneously with native yeasts. The wine then ages for 6 months in chestnut barrels that are over 100 years old. It is finally bottled, adding a minimal amount of sulphur.
Made through traditional Galician methods, Cume do Avia Brancellao Dos Canotos is a red wine that beautifully reflects all the freshness and liveliness of the Atlantic.
