Coto Mayor Crianza is a red wine from the appellations of origin (D.O) Rioja produced by El Coto de la Rioja, a winery from Oyón (Álava), founded in 1970.
Coto Mayor Crianza is 100% produced from the varietal Tempranillo. The grape originates from the vineyards of Alvesa and Ausejo in Rioja.
For the means of production, Coto Mayor Crianza underwent a traditional winemaking process. The must is macerated and fermented in containers that are regulated to a strict regime of temperatures.
After the fermentation process, the wine is aged for 16 months (Crianza) in American (80%) and French (20%) oak barrels of 225 litres.
During the ageing stage of Coto Mayor Crianza, the winemakers tried to find the perfect balance between the freshness of the fruit and the sweetness of the barrels.

Since its beginnings in 1970, the winery El Coto de Rioja has followed a policy of constant reinvestment that has not only meant doubling the size of its facilities, but also significantly increasing the extension of its own vineyard and the number of barrels for the ageing of its wines.
