Condado de Oriza Crianza is a monovarietal Tinta del País (Tempranillo) red wine from the D.O. Ribera del Duero produced by Pagos del Rey in Olmedillo de Roa.
The Solís family, owners of Pagos del Rey, has 70 hectares of vineyard in the area and works with some 450 farmers from whom it buys the grapes. In total it controls 1,600 hectares of vineyards, has an annual production capacity of nine million litres and has a total of 10,000 barrels.
The grapes for Condado de Oriza Crianza come from vineyards that are over 20 years old located in the area around Olmedillo de Roa, Burgos.
To prepare Condado de Oriza Crianza they first select the grapes. Then a two day pre-fermentative maceration is performed. Fermentation then begins, and the temperature is maintained controlled at about 25-28 ºC in order to extract the maximum expression of the varietal. Lastly the wine is aged in American oak barrels for 14 months. Once bottled the wine is stored for 9 months before going on the market, to ensure it arrives in optimal conditions.
