Colgin Cariad 2014 is a red wine with aromas of ripe blueberries and plums on the nose, with seductive hints of liquorice. The hibiscus and citrus flower touches add freshness. These aromas continue on the palate where this wine is concentrated, with bright acidity and a smooth and pleasant texture. An extraordinary red wine with outstanding longevity.

Colgin Cariad is a red wine coupage of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot varieties produced by the Colgin winery in the AVA Napa Valley in California, USA.

Cariad is a Welsh word that means “love” and is the name given to this wine made in the style of Bordeaux reds using grapes from three exceptional vineyards: Madrona Ranch, Thorevilos and Howell Mountain.

The clusters grow on the rocky slopes overlooking the Napa Valley where the plots lie at an altitude ranging from 122 to 152 metres above sea level. The vines grow in mineral-rich soils with rocky and volcanic characteristics and gravel alluvium. The grapes reflect centuries of influence from the fresh mountain air and produce powerful and delicate wines, a perfect combination of the fine qualities of the Napa Valley.

Colgin is a young winery that produces exquisite, almost handmade wines. They work with small yields and carry out a thorough and delicate selection process. The selected grapes are then traditionally vinified. In 2005, the Colgin winery was named one of the 50 best wine estates in the world by wine critic Robert Parker.
