Clos Lentiscus is a red wine produced by the winery Clos Lentiscus, in Sant Pere de Ribes, Barcelona. D.O. Penedès.
Clos Lentiscus is a project aimed at producing wines like those that were made in the past. Wines that are respectful with the land, using classic cultivation methods without pesticides or herbicides. Using the moon as a guidance to plant, prune and harvest, and respecting the wine in the bottling process.
It is a family-run winery located in the heart of the natural park of Garraf. Its vines are mainly planted on sandy-calcareous soils, facing south. Around 20 hectares mostly planted with local varieties and following the biodynamic method.
Clos Lentiscus Perill Noir Carinyena is a natural wine made with Carignan, planted on clayey-calcareous soils. Harvest is performed by hand. The grapes are destemmed and macerated for 15 days in 1,000-litre foudres of and 500-litre amphorae, where only the cap is wet. The grapes ferment in these same deposits with native yeasts. The ageing is also carried out here for 18-24 months.
Clos Lentiscus Perill Noir Carinyena is a juicy, intense and deep wine. Very aromatic on the nose, where the aromas of fresh red fruit stand out with the light spicy notes. In the mouth, it is direct, with a lively mid-palate, but with volume. The end is quite fresh. An extremely varietal wine.
