Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge is a barrel-aged red wine made by Clos des Papes with the Syrah, Garnacha Tinta and Mourvèdre varieties in the AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Rhône).
Clos des Papes is one of the leading wineries in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. A project with a long history that the Avril family has been running since 1600. They now have a total of 32 hectares spread over 24 plots that are managed by Vincent Avril to continue making exceptional wines in the Rhone Valley with a personal touch of delicacy and elegance.
Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge comes from old vines planted in Miocene terrain covered with boulders. These vines have been certified “organic” for 4 years and are low-yield. They are cultivated using environmentally-friendly agriculture to extract the characteristics of the Chardonnay variety in its natural habitat.
In the winery, the Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge grapes are carefully selected, destemmed and crushed. They then macerate and ferment and finally the wine ages in large old oak barrels for 2 years.
Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge is a nice unique cuvée that this Rhône winery has been making for several decades. A gem to carefully hold onto and then open and enjoy in 5 years.
