Characteristics Clos de la Roilette Fleurie
Clos de la Roilette Fleurie is an organic single-variety Gamay red wine produced by the Clos de la Roilette winery in the A.O.C. Fleurie in Burgundy, France.
Clos de la Roilette Fleurie is made with clusters that come from plots cultivated using sustainable agriculture and with vines ranging from 30 to 45 years old. The harvest is carried out manually and fermentation takes place with the whole clusters using native yeasts in neutral deposits, working to keep the “cap” (layer of skins and other solid residues that covers the liquid) submerged and in contact with the must.
The resulting wine ages in used foudres and is bottled the summer following the harvest.
The wines produced by Alain Coudert at Clos de la Roilette are not the normal Fleurie wines. The winery lies in a beautiful area very close to Moulin-à-Vent, with predominantly clay and manganese soils rather than granite, which gives the wines density as well as complex aromas and flavours.
