Claus Preisinger Edelgraben Grüner Veltliner is a natural, ecological, biodynamic and vegan orange wine that is barrel-aged and made in Burgenland (Austria) by Claus Preisinger with the Grüner Veltliner native variety.
Claus Preisinger is a young winegrower who produces natural wines in the town of Gols, on the east side of Lake Neusiedl. He is a member of Pannobile, a group of winegrowers who champion the unique character of the terroir and local varieties. His wines are a living image of nature, and made without artificial interference either in the vineyard or in the winery.
Claus Preisinger Edelgraben Grüner Veltliner comes from a vineyard located on the southern slopes of the Leitha mountain range, west of Lake Neusiedl. These are 45-year-old vines planted in slate and limestone soils. They are cultivated using biodynamic agriculture with organic and natural treatments that will not harm the natural balance of the terroir. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
In the winery, the Claus Preisinger Edelgraben Grüner Veltliner grapes are pressed whole and left to macerate for 14 days in amphoras. Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts and then the wine ages in an old 600-litre barrel. It is finally bottled without being filtered, clarified or adding sulphur.
Claus Preisinger Edelgraben Grüner Veltliner is a country wine that is made from the grape and nothing else. An orange wine that is hearty and fresh in equal parts.
