Claire Naudin Myosotis Arvensis is a natural monovarietal Pinot Noir red wine from the AOC Hautes Côtes de Nuits produced by Domaine Henri Naudin-Ferrand.
Domaine Henri Naudin-Ferrand is a winery run since 1994 by Claire Naudin, one of the three daughters of the founder of the Domaine Henri Naudin. It is located about 15km from Beaune, in Magny-les-Villers. The winery has small plots in Côte d'Or that add up to a total of 22 hectares. It works rationally in the field, and in winery intervenes with as few oenological products as possible. It vinifies with natural yeasts and does not clarify or filter the wines before bottling so that they are as pure as possible and express their terroir fully.
The vineyards for Claire Naudin Myosotis Arvensis have an average age of 40 years. The plots are called " Les Tilles " and " En la Croix", and add up to a total area of 1.2 hectares. They have an enormous potential: they are well oriented, the plant material is very good and the crops have an excellent quality. All this made Naudin decide to vinify them separately and produce this wine.
Claire Naudin Myosotis Arvensis is harvested manually so that the bunches can be carefully selected while still in the field. The harvest is vatted without destemming and without adding sulphites, but protecting it with dry ice. It ferments for around 15 days and then undergoes both malolactic fermentation and ageing in French oak barrels, 60% of which are new. All the racking is done by gravity to respect the must and wine as much as possible. Lastly, it is bottled without filtering or clarifying, adding a little bit sulfite to avoid re-fermentations and to ensure the quality of the wine after transporting.
Claire Naudin Myosotis Arvensis is a Pinot Noir that is harmonious and robust but pleasant to drink. Only about 3,500 bottles are produced.
