Château Villa Bel-Air Blanc is a barrel-aged white wine made in the AOC Pessac-Léognan (Bordeaux) with Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc varieties by Château Villa Bel-Air.

The Villa Bel-Air castle is 15 km south of Bordeaux, on the edges of the village of St. Morillon and is considered a historical monument in France. A spectacular Italian-inspired “chartreuse” property in the heart of the vineyards and a true eighteenth century treasure. In 1988 it was acquired by the Cazes family (who also own Château Lych-Bages in Pauillac and Les Ormes de Pez in St. Estèphe) and they reconstructed the building and the vineyards with the intention of producing delicate wines with great complexity.

The Château Villa Bel-Air Blanc vineyards are located in an area with great winemaking history with predominantly gravel and sand soils. When reconstructing the estate, the old plots were replanted and the property was fitted with a new drainage system, following guidance from Daniel Llose and Guy Delestrac. They use conventional agriculture and the harvest is carried out at the optimum moment of maturation.

Once in the winery, the Château Villa Bel-Air Blanc grapes are gently destemmed and pressed. The resulting must ferments cold with selected yeasts. It then ages in French oak barrels on its lees, with regular battonage for 9 months. 30% of wine is put into new barrels, with the rest put in used barrels.

Wrapped in an impressive historical legacy, Château Villa Bel-Air Blanc white wine perfectly illustrates the delicacy and complexity of Bordeaux's white wines.
