Characteristics Château Puygueraud
Château Puygueraud is a barrel-aged red wine made with the Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc varieties by Château Puygueraud in the Bordeaux region (France).
Before becoming a winemaker, Nicolas Thienpont studied law and philosophy. But in 1983, the charm of the Puygueraud vineyards, in Côtes de Francs, drew him back to his native Bordeaux and he set up Château Puygueraud. An area dedicated to wine-growing where he makes exceptional wines with his son Cyrille.
Château Puygueraud comes from 35 hectares of vines lying on a rocky plateau with clayey-calcareous soils. The team use traditional agriculture and each plot is worked individually to make sure the plant and the soil are working well together.
In the winery, Château Puygueraud ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. It then ages for 12 months in French oak barrels. 40% are new barrels, 30% are first year and the remaining 30% second year.
Château Puygueraud is the leading wine in the Cotes de Francs denomination. A full-bodied wine with polished tannins.
