Chateau d’Arlay Chardonnay is a barrel-fermented white wine made with the Chardonnay variety in the AOC Côtes du Jura (France) by Chateau d'Arlay.

Built in 1774 on the site of a Minim monastery, Chateau d’Arlay is considered one of the oldest winemaking castles in France. In 1960, its owner, the count of Laguiche decided to revive winemaking in the castle, which is what it was used for in the Middle Ages. As a result, they manage a total of 25 hectares of vineyards planted with native varieties, resulting in aged wines made in the castle’s magnificent cellars. His son Alain now carries his legacy whilst also bringing a somewhat more modern approach.

Chateau d’Arlay Chardonnay comes from old vines over 70 years old, planted on hillsides at an altitude of 200 to 240 metres. The plot is named “the queen” and is characterised by its calcareous clay soils. They take an organic approach to their agriculture and are respectful of the environment. The harvest is left until the grapes are very ripe.

In the winery, the Chateau d’Arlay Chardonnay grapes are selected, destemmed and gently pressed. Then the wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks with their own fine lees.

Chateau d’Arlay Chardonnay is an iconic wine from the French wine region of Jura. A dry white wine with very ripe fruity aromas that are almost oxidative, but with a clear fruity and floral freshness.
