Characteristics Castillo de Monjardín Pinot Noir El Cerezo
Castillo de Monjardín Pinot Noir El Cerezo is a red wine produced by Bodegas Castillo de Monjardín in Villamayor de Monjardín, D.O. Navarra.
Bodegas Castillo de Monjardín is a winery located in the centre of Navarre, at the foot of the Pyrenees, a privileged area for the cultivation of vines. This area is highly influenced by the French history and culture, which give it the tradition when it comes to producing their wines with varieties like Chardonnay, Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon.
Bodegas Castillo de Monjardín has 220 hectares of vineyards located at around 700 metres of altitude, on sunny hillsides refreshed by the "Cierzo", strong cold wind characteristic of this area. These vines are between 15 and 70 years old.
All their wines are made with grapes from their own farms, with controlled fermentations, and ageing in French and American oak barrels. They combine the best traditional methods with innovation, using state-of-the-art winemaking techniques. Their aim is to produce top quality wines that represent the land where they are born.
Castillo de Monjardín Pinot Noir El Cerezo is a wine made from 100% Pinot Noir from the farm El Cerezo, a vineyard with more than 30 years of history, located at 650 metres of altitude on clay loam soils.
After the harvest, the grapes ferment in stainless steel deposits for around 10 days at a controlled temperature, also with maceration. This wine is aged for 9 months in 300-litre French oak barrels.
