Casar Godello is a monovarietal white wine of the Godello variety with ageing on lees, produced by the Casar de Burbia winery.

Casar de Burbia is a family winery located between the municipalities of Carracedelo and Posada del Bierzo. In the 1980s, contrary to what most producers did, the winery began acquiring old and unproductive vineyards of the native Mencía variety in the area, especially in Valtuille de Arriba. This made it possible to conserve part of the areas plant heritage, and has served to boost it as well as the culture of the Mencía.

Casar Godello’s vineyards are located in Valtuille de Arriba, at an altitude of 600 metres. They are more than 30 years old, and their soils are of slate and quartz with traces of clay in the subsoil. The predominant climate is Atlantic.

Casar Godellois harvested manually into 10 kg boxes, which allows a first selection of bunches in the field. Once in the cellar, a second manual selection is made. Afterwards, a cold film maceration is performed at around 12 ºC to extract aromas. Then the must is drained and the pastes pressed. Fermentation is carried out at a low temperature of 14-16 ºC, to extract and better preserve fruit aromas. This lasts for 20 days. Lastly the wine is aged for 8 months on its own fine lees. Finally, the wine is stabilised to prevent future precipitates and is bottled.

Casar Godello is a fresh white wine with volume in the mouth and creaminess, that can accompany all kinds of seafood and fish dishes.

The Fernandez Bello family started to produce wine in the 80's by purchasing vineyards in the mountainous zones and highest areas of the valley, in Valtuille de Arriba (Leon). The most significant assets of the winery are undoubtedly its 27 has of vineyards surrounding the Road to Santiago.
Bierzo wine is on the rise. It is a region defined by its small scale work, with plots scattered around, very old vines, artisan work of the small scale wineries, and the character of their principal variety, the Mencía grape, which produces fresh, fruity and delicious wines. Although the region is well known mostly for its red wines, it also produces white and rosé wines. If the red wines here are defined by the Mencía variety, then the white wines here are defined by the Godello. Godello grape has great aromatic potential, as well as an excellent balance between alcohol and acidity.  Despite the great potential of El Bierzo, its rise in the wine world would not have been possible without two people: Raúl Pérez and Ricardo Pérez. Two great winemakers who in little time have been able to produce critically acclaimed wines from the Bierzo region.
